Bexley College
Challenge
Bexley College contacted us to design and install a new Audio Visual System into there Conference Room which was formely the
College's library. The room is constructed of glass reinforced sheets and RSJ's, with an extremely high domed ceiling which has
now had a suspended ceiling installed.
They asked us to provide a solution that would cater for the rooms many uses. We designed a bespoke Audio Visual System
including designing and building a custom lectern that also catered for disabled users. The shape and structure of the room
provided a challenge in mounting the data projector and projection screen of which the other Companies Tendering for the
Audio Visual Installation said could not be done.
Solution
PPAV Plc designed an Audio Visual System that fitted in with the asthetic's
of the room. 16 ceiling speakers were installed into the ceiling tiles
providing full audio coverage of the room. A Sanyo data projector was
ceiling mounted via custom bracketry flush with the ceiling tiles. A 3m
electric projection screen was also mounted via custom bracketry.
Due to the air flow within the room and numerous windows, the
screen specified was tensioned to eliminate the screen from swaying
when down. PPAV Plc designed a custom made and engraved input plate
to connect the ceiling speakers, projector and screen to the mobile
lectern.
We designed and made a custom lectern suitable for able bodied and
disabled users. We also had Bexley College's logo laser cut onto coloured vaneer wood, this is a completely one off lectern. Inside
the lockable lectern was an Audio Visual equipment rack which was built and wired in our workshop and delivered full tested to
site. We provided a ten metre cable loom from the lectern allowing the user to decide on there presenting / operating location.
The Audio Visual System was all controlled via a Crestron Control System allowing the user full control of all the equipment
including sixteen motorised blinds. Once programmed by PPAV Plc's Crestron Certified Programmer the Audio Visual System
allowed the user to turn all of the equipment on and off at the touch of a button. This included turning the projector on and off,
lowering and raising the projection screen, turning the audio system on including microphones. Easy connection of laptops and
video devices was made accessible via the self extracting loom locating within the lid of the Crestron Touch Panel.
The Audio Visual System far exceeded Bexley College's expectations. They liked our approach and eye of details and the way we
fulfilled all of their needs and more. They are looking forward to future Audio Visual Installations and what PPAV Plc
will design and install for them.
